Hi again from Gunnison! We’re now completely settled into our new location and have been enjoying life in the mountains.
John is in his second year teaching at Western State College. He’s working hard but having fun too. His biggest project this year was starting a computer camp for high school kids using video gaming software. John spent the summer teaching one last time at Yale but has resolved to stay in the mountains next summer.
Eric graduated from High School in May and spent the summer as a raft guide for Scenic River Tours. In fall, Eric went to the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs to study computer science. But dorm life and computing didn't appeal to Eric so he's come back to Gunnison and will start at Western in January. He's not sure what he wants to major in yet. He still loves kayaking and playing video games.
Jay is in 8th grade now. He's doing OK but would rather be playing computer games instead of studying. Jay's favorite class is computers. Poor Jay has to follow Dad around biking, climbing, and skiing. He's got some company now – we've formed an "Adventure Club" and Jay now has a number of young female admirers to go adventuring with.
Marti is still mostly a stay at home mom. She taught a class in website design last year, and will be teaching a class in Microsoft tools this coming year. She is enjoying a book club and a quilting group. Marti's sister, Anna, and niece, Amber, visited this summer. And Marti went to visit her sister Nina in Spokane this fall. She also went to Chicago with Aunt Trudy for Great Aunt Fanny's funeral, and visited family and friends there.
Travel and visitors made our year special – here's some of the folks we got to see in 2006
Thanks to everyone that came by or put up with John while he was in Connecticut!
Come visit anytime!
